Spartanburg Philharmonic: Joyous Holiday Music

Ioannides-250bCarolina Live presents an all-new holiday edition of the program thanks to a December, 2013 concert from the Spartanburg Philharmonic with conductor Sarah Ioannides, the Spartanburg Day School Choir, and tenor Wayne Hobbs. One of the Bach Brandenburgs gets the concert started and showcases soloists from the orchestra. Then the orchestra is joined by tenor and children’s choir for holiday songs and traditional favorites. There’s also ballet music from Tchaikovsky, a Polonaise from Rimsky-Korsakov, the prelude to an Engelbert Humperdinck’s fairy tale opera, and more sacred classics of the season from Bach/Gounod, Adolf Adam and Handel.
